Stewart Germann Law Office was founded by Stewart Germann in 1993.
Previously Stewart Germann had been a partner in various law firms and he has
been involved in franchising since 1980.
Stewart Lloyd Germann is a Barrister and Solicitor of the High
Court of New Zealand and he is also a Notary Public. Stewart obtained the
qualifications of Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Laws (B.Com, LLB) from
the University of Auckland and he specialises in franchising law.
Stewart Germann Law Office handles all aspects of property law, commercial law
and company law with particular emphasis on franchising, businesses, licensing
and distribution agreements. As well as acting for many New Zealand
franchisors, the firm also acts for a number of Australian franchisors who have
entered New Zealand to expand their system. The firm also acts for franchisors
in USA and the United Kingdom.
Stewart Germann Law Office prides itself in providing expert legal advice in
relation to franchising, licensing and small business. It also provides advice
in the area of intellectual property and the firm has considerable expertise in
drafting commercial documentation.
Stewart Germann is a Past Chairman of the Franchise Association of New
Zealand. As well as being a member of the Franchise Association of New
Zealand, the firm is also a member of the Franchise Council of Australia
Limited and it is the only New Zealand member of the International Franchise
Association.
In February 2001 Stewart Germann was elected to the Board of the Supplier Forum
(previously known as CFS) of the IFA and Stewart is the first person from
outside of USA and Canada to be elected to that Board.
Stewart Germann Law Office can assist franchisors with the preparation of
disclosure documents, franchise agreements, licence agreements and related
documentation. The firm can also adapt US agreements for New Zealand
conditions. Stewart Germann Law Office has wide contacts in the franchising
industry throughout New Zealand, Australia, United Kingdom, USA and Asia.
Stewart Germann is one of only two New Zealand lawyers included in the
International Who's Who of Franchising Lawyers. In addition, Stewart Germann
Law Office in August 2003 became a member of Horwath Franchise Consultancy
Group in association with Eversheds of London.
The firm is actively involved in international franchising and is also able to
assist overseas franchisors, and US franchisors in particular, in finding
suitable master franchisees for New Zealand.
